Welcome to the Blackpool Cup from his Worshipful the Mayor, Councillor Robert Wynne, of Blackpool.  

Once again Blackpool Borough Council is delighted to welcome and support the Blackpool Cup, a very important annual event in our calendar. Every year we are delighted to see so many young footballers enjoying themselves on the many attractions Blackpool has to offer. Their brightly coloured tracksuits and tops add special interest among the throngs of visitors to our town. We offer a special welcome to those teams from other countries that have travelled a long way to take part in this major youth football event. For 16 years now Blackpool has been very pleased to be associated with this tournament and we hope to see it for many years to come. 

I am looking forward to meeting the team leaders at the reception on Friday evening and I am delighted to be able to present some of the trophies at the finals on Monday. I hope everyone has a great time and I wish all the teams and the officials’ success. I would like to thank all the organisers for their hard work and good luck for another successful weekend.
